IMWA is the International Medical Writers Association
IMWA is the International Medical Writers Association. It was founded by Virginia Chachati in 2024 to help represent and support the diverse range of medical writers around the world.
At IMWA, we focus on developing strong relationships, education, and enabling medical writers to have the best chance of a flourishing career.
Virginia started her journey into medical writing at a time of need. After relocating from the UK to Germany in 2020, she had to find a new career. In 2021, she founded the group Medical Writing for Beginners and Beyond on LinkedIn, and started to share her knowledge and experience as a medical writer.
Little did she know she started a movement that would carry on for years to come. More people than ever before want to become medical writers too, but one person can only do so much.
After a string of successful courses under the name Write Clinic, and a YouTube channel with the video podcast Medical Writing Uncut, plus Medical Writer Magazine, Virginia decided medical writers needed more than just a LinkedIn group. They needed to feel united and seen, and their stories heard.
The International Medical Writers Association is for everyone to learn, grow and thrive as a medical writer.
To become a member of IMWA, please wait for official announcements in 2025.
